Game Summaries

Game 1: August 20th: St Johns 6 - Laingsburg 3

On Wednesday August 20th the Laingsburg JV Soccer team opened their season against the St. John's Red Wings.  Laingsburg took an early lead off Pete Dibert's breakaway goal just 5 minutes in.  St. John's retaliated with 4 goals in the next 20 minutes.  The first goal by Jonathan Bender was nicely directed header from a cross by Christian McMillan.  Angel Lousas added 2 more of these by using his speed to breakaway from the Wolfpack defense.  Zach Morlock used a nice pass from Jacob Garner to cut the St. John's lead to 4-2 with just under 2 minutes to play in the half.

St. John's opened the second half with a quick goal, but Laingsburg maintained most of the pressure as they tried to play catch up.  Zach Morlock cut the Red Wing lead to 5-3 with 15 minutes to go.  It was Morlock's second goal and the cap to a great play set up by Wolfpack forward Pete Dibert.  Sam Johnson missed 2 close shots and Morlock barely missed his third goal.  In the end Angel Lousas and the Red Wings proved too strong.  Lousas scored his third goal and put the game out of reach.

Game 2: August 25th: East Lansing 4 - Laingsburg 1

On August 25th Laingsburg Boys' JV Soccer team played their second game of the season against the East Lansing Trojans.  East Lansing played a very sound game throughout, but it was an opportunistic Zach Morlock who put the Wolfpack on the board first with a bobbled save attempt by the Trojan keeper.  That is all the Wolfpack would see of the goal however, as a terrific Trojan defense held Laingsburg to just 2 more shots the entire game.  East Lansing added 4 unanswered goals at dropped the Wolfpack to 0-2 on the season.

Tuesday the Wolfpack of Laingsburg's Boys' JV Soccer team met Linden.  Linden got out to the scoring first on an uncontested finish by Alex Neal.  The Wolfpack answered back immediately on Pete Dibert's finish of a perfectly played through ball by Zac Klaver.  Zach Morlock put the Wolfpack up 2-1 with a penalty shot midway through the first.  Morlock was fouled right in front of the net resulting in the kick.  Sam Johnson followed his own shot with 1 minute to go in the half to give Laingsburg a 3-1 halftime lead.  The second half was all Linden.  The Eagles outshot Laingsburg 12 -3.  The constant crosses and back post runs allowed Linden to tie the game up.  Brett Benford and Adam Edinger scored the two second half goals for the Eagles.  Zach Morlock had a potential game winning goal knocked away by Linden goalkeeper Nick Burns with under 3 minutes to play.  The teams settled with a 3-3 tie.

The first half saw both teams get their share of scoring chances, but the tie couldn't be broken until the second half.  Mulanski scored twice more for the Blackhawks as they clung to 3-1 lead.  The Leslie defense frustrated the Wolfpack offense all day by blocking shots and forcing them into turnovers.
